Work Experience:

    Associate Professor, Genome Editing and Molecular Breeding, IBFC, 2022.01

    Assistant Professor, Genome Editing and Molecular Breeding, IBFC, 2020.06

Research experience:

Worked on gene function characterization for spike development and flowering time

· Modified CRISPR-Cas9 based genome editing technique to wheat varieties with different genetic background

· Developed isogenic lines from genome edited plant and reveal the genetic effect of copy number variation of the gene on spikelet number

Worked on QTL mapping, map-based gene cloning, and characterizing gene function in transcriptional and post-translational levels

· Developed several F2 populations based on local cultivars, and mapped three major QTLs for spikelet number, spike length and branching spike separately

· Molecular markers linked with these QTL regions were designed and used in wheat breeding of Oklahoma

· Studied the molecular mechanism of  TaSBY1 enhancing spikelet number in wheat. Characterized  TaSBY1 function in transcriptional level, through protein interaction and Yeast two-hybrid (Y2H) library screening

Worked on establishment of genetic transformation and CRISPR/Cas9-mediated targeted mutagenesis in Hemp ( Cannabis Sativa L. )

· Established a stable  Agrobacterium -mediated transformation in cannabis research

· Reported the first successful generation of edited cannabis plants with disruptions in  CsPDS1 and identified the first stable insertion of T-DNA in plant genome.
