27th- 29th, October, 2018
Changsha, China
In the past several decades, it has been highlighted the common interest to increase investment on fiber crops research with the growing concern over the impact on the environment. In order to get the consensus on the sustainable development of nature fiber crops, it was decided to plan a preparatory symposium paving the way towards common activities, identifying main interests and bottlenecks in production and process chains with special attention to technologies that can be applied. Exploit the industry of economic crops to promote the green development of modern agriculture.
There is a renewed interest in fiber crops as a sustainable source of bio-based material for industrial products. In Europe, fiber crops are widely cultivated: hemp in France, Italy, Netherlands, etc.; flax in Poland, Germany, etc. China is renowned for the quality of its fiber and for being the world leader in fiber production.
The symposium would take stock of identified innovative research initiatives and programs to contribute to the goal of sustainable use of fiber crops for industrial products.
Presentations would be from leading researchers, economists and enterprises worldwide. The symposium participants would be asked to identify opportunities and needs of emerging research, to identify opportunities for Sino-foreign research collaboration.
