To meet the national demands of environmental protection, new special medicines and nutrition and health, national strategy of independent innovation in seed industry, the team carries out research on the exploitation and utilization of characteristic crop germplasm resources in South China.
Research topic:
The team focuses on collection, conservation, identification and sharing services of important economic crop germplasms, for example, bast fiber crops, okra, Hunan lotusetc in south China; Secondly, the team works on mapping and molecular mechanisms of important character genes in several items as followings: jute with salt tolerance and drought resistance, high adsorption capacity for heavy metals, apomixis in Boehmeriatricuspis as well as synthesis and regulation of cannabinoid in hemp; In addition, the team also focuses on germplasm of characteristic bast fiber crops and okra, such as the application of jute in wastewater purification, the creation, technological innovation and industrialization application of hemp with high CBD content.
Research achievement:
The team has been awarded 11 provincial and ministerial awards. And the team has presided over the project "Collection, Identification and Utilization of China's Main Bast Crop Germplasm Resources" which was awarded the third prize of the National Science and Technology Progress. It has taken part in the project “Collection, Conservation, Evaluation and Utilization of China's Main Crop Germplasm Resources”and“Background Diversity, Technical Index System and Application of Crop Germplasm Resources in China”which won the first and second prize of the national science and technology progress award respectively.
