Research objective:
To meet the national demands of the innovation and development of non-food bio-based materials, the team carries out research on the green fiber extraction from herb raw materials, cellulose modification & transformation, and functional fiber material creation technology.
Research topic:
The team focuses on the mechanism and technology of biological extraction from herb raw materials (such as bast fiber crops, straw, etc.), and analyzes fiber structure, properties and functions; Secondly, the team focuses on comprehensive evaluation and high-throughput measurement technology of herbal fiber, and develops herbal fiber quality evaluation system; In addition, the team also focuses on herbal fiber modification & bio-refining technology, and the development of high value-added fiber materials products, for example, anti-bacterial, anti-wrinkle and other functional characteristics in medical and health care.
Research achievement:
The team has been awarded more than 40 provincial and ministerial awards. Typically, “Bacterial and chemical combination degumming technology for ramie” was awarded by State Invention Award, and “A high-efficiency, energy-saving and environment-protect bio-degumming technology in factory-scale for bast fibers” was awarded by “Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences Outstanding Scientific and Technological Innovation Award”. Moreover, the team has presided over more than 30 provincial and ministerial projects. For example, “Study on the enzymatic mechanism of ramie degumming by Dickeya dadantii DCE-01” was supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China, which revealed the mechanism of non-cellulose biodegradation in the fiber extraction process.
